Toggle the sliding scale option when adding a medication
FAQ: I added an insulin order from the Pharmacy but the sliding scale was not added, how can I add that myself?

Open the Resident Medication List
- Navigate to the EMAR medication list to begin adding the insulin order.

Add a New Medication
- Click on "Add Medication."
- Type the first few letters of the medication name (e.g., Glargine).
- Select the correct medication from the list.

Enter Medication Details
- Choose the correct administration route (e.g., subcutaneous).
- Input the drug strength (e.g., 100 units/mL).
- Set the medication type to "Injection Solution."

Set the Sliding Scale
- Click on the "Sliding Scale" option.
- Define the dosage based on blood glucose levels:
- If less than 100, give 0 units.
- If between 101-150, give 1 unit.
- If between 151-200, give 2 units.
- Continue adding ranges until reaching the highest level.
- If greater than 501, give 9 units and call the MD.

Confirm Frequency and Instructions
- Select the frequency as per the order (e.g., three times daily).
- Input any specific instructions for administering the insulin.

Save the Order
- Click "Save" to finalize the sliding scale setup.

Administer Insulin in Med Pass
- During med pass, check the blood glucose level.
- Based on the result, the system will indicate the appropriate insulin dosage.
- Administer the insulin and document the injection site.

Pharmacy Orders and Sliding Scale
- Pharmacy orders will not include a sliding scale automatically.
- If you receive a pharmacy order, manually enter the sliding scale following the same process.
