Create a custom medication when dealing with a range order
FAQ: I have an injection with a range order; how do I add this to the medication list?

Go to Medication under EMAR
- Click EMAR on the side navigation bar and go to Medications.

Add a Custom Medication
- Start by creating a new medication entry.
- Enter the full name of the drug, including specific instructions (e.g., "Sodium chloride 0.9% SOLN 250 mL with fentaNYL Citrate (PF) 100 MCG/2ML SOCT 4 mcg/mL").
- Select the appropriate drug route (e.g., intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous).

Input Dosage and Strength
- Enter only the numerical values for the dosage - 0.7
- Under the Strength field, enter the rest of the dosage (–2 mcg/kg/hr).

Set Additional Details
- Choose "Injection" for the dosage form.
- Select the appropriate frequency, such as "Once daily" or other relevant options. Note: Continuous dosing may require choosing PRN to document when you check on the resident.

Handle Range Limitations
- Synkwise does not support direct input of dosage ranges. Instead:
- Enter a single dose value (e.g., 0.7 or 1).
- Include the full dosage range in the "Instructions" or "Notes" field for clarity.
- Save the custom medication entry.

Document Administration under Med Pass
- When administering the medication, specify the exact amount given (e.g., "Gave 0.7 mcg") by clicking the notepad on the right.
- Log details such as the injection site.

Med Log Review
- After administration, the Medlog will display details, such as the exact dose, injection site, and signature for documentation.
