Adding a Medication with a Range

Create two separate orders to add a "range" type of medication

FAQ: How do I add the medication Loperamide? This has a range type of order.

  1. Start with the First Order (Initial Dose)

    • Navigate to the "Medications" section in Synkwise.
    • Click "Add Medication."
    • Search for the drug name (e.g., Loperamide) and select it from the list.
    • To distinguish this as the initial dose, append something like "Take-2" to the drug name.
      • Add all the other info and save the order.
  2. Create the Second Order (Follow-Up Dose)

    • Add a second medication order.
    • Use the same drug name but append something like "Take-1" to distinguish it from the first order.
      • Add all the other info and save the order.
  3. Administer the Medications

    • During the medpass, select the first order (e.g., "Take-2") to administer the initial 2 capsules.
    • Once the initial dose is given, select the second order (e.g., "Take-1") for subsequent doses of 1 capsule, ensuring the total does not exceed the maximum allowed.
  4. Document Effectiveness

    • After administering the medication, go to the effectiveness section for the order.
    • Complete the documentation (e.g., noting whether the patient had a bowel movement).
  5. Use the Help Feature for Additional Assistance

    • If you encounter any issues, use the help button located at the bottom-right corner of Synkwise for support.
