Approve Pharmacy Part 1 & 2 Multi-Sig Orders
How to approve and manage a pharmacy order that contains two different parts, such as a scheduled dose and a PRN dose of the same medication
FAQ: The pharmacy sent me an order that has two parts to it, how do I approve those orders?

Identify the Multi-Part Order

Navigate to Pharmacy Orders and click on the medication you need to approve.

On the left side of the screen, you will see the different parts of the order, such as a scheduled time (e.g., 8 p.m.) and a separate PRN instruction.

Add the Pharmacy Order

Click the Add Order button and proceed past the accuracy check warning.

Scroll to the bottom of the page to review Part 1 and Part 2.

Confirm that one part is set as a scheduled frequency (e.g., "One time daily") and the other has the PRN option toggled on.

Configure and Create the Medication

While on this screen, add a Reason for the medication if known.

Adjust the Start Date to reflect when the medication administration should begin.

Enable Track Quantity if you need to monitor the amount on hand for both parts of the order.

After reviewing all details, click Create.

View and Manage the Multi-Sig Order

Navigate to the resident's Medications list.

The order will be labeled as Multi-Sig. You can click on it to expand and see both Part 1 and Part 2.

To make changes, click the three dots icon and select Edit. From here, you can discontinue one part by adding an end date to that specific frequency while keeping the other part active.

Administer on the Medpass

Go to the Medpass.

The scheduled dose will appear at its designated time for administration.

The PRN dose will be available to administer from the PRN section as needed.
