How to use the alerts widget on the dashboard to manage missed medications and PRN effectiveness reviews

  1. Access the Alerts Widget

    • Locate the Alerts widget on your dashboard. If it's not visible, use the Customize Dashboard option to add it.

    • The widget has two primary tabs: Medications and Health Monitor.

  2. Review Medication Alerts

    • The Medications tab lists any resident who has missed a medication on the medpass within the last 72 hours.

    • Click the button next to a resident's name to go directly to their medpass.

  3. Administer Missed Medications

    • On the medpass, scroll back to previous days to find medications that were not administered.

    • Use the batch process medication button to quickly mark and administer all missed doses at once.

    • For certain medications, such as topical creams, you may need to complete additional steps like marking the body silhouette.

  4. Complete PRN Effectiveness

    • Alerts can also be triggered by pending PRN effectiveness reviews. Navigate to the PRN meds section.

    • Under the pending review tab, select the PRN.

    • Mark if it was effective, ensure the administration and effective dates are close, add a note, and save.

  5. Check the Medlog

    • You can also view missed medications in the medlog.

    • While you can update records here, it is recommended to use the batch processing feature on the medpass for faster administration.
