Restrict Workspace Access by IP Address

How to block staff from logging into Synkwise outside the facility by restricting access to specific IP addresses

FAQ: I need to block my staff from accessing Synkwise from their home or their phones.

  1. Get the Home's Static IP Address

    • Open Google Chrome (or any browser) and search for “what’s my IP address.”

    • Copy the public IP address shown by Google (this will not be something like 192.168.x.x, but a unique internet-facing address).

  2. Log in to Synkwise and Open the Admin Panel

    • Log in to your Synkwise account.

    • Go to the Administration section.

    • Click on Settings.

    • Navigate to the Security tab in the top-right corner.

  3. Add Allowed IP Addresses

    • Under “Allowed IP Addresses,” click to add a new rule.

    • Paste the copied IP address.

    • Add a description for the rule (e.g., “Main Facility Network”).

    • You can enable or disable this rule as needed.

    • Add multiple IP addresses if you have more than one facility.

  4. Set IP Bypass for Certain Roles

    • Use the Role-Based IP Bypass option to exclude certain roles from the restriction (e.g., “Family” role).

    • This ensures users with those roles can still log in from any network.

  5. Save the Settings

    • Click Save to apply changes.

    • Now only users accessing Synkwise from the listed IP addresses will be allowed, unless they belong to a bypassed role.

  6. What Happens for Blocked Users

    • Users trying to log in from an unapproved network will see a "Network Restricted" error and will not be granted access.

  7. Troubleshooting

    • Temporarily disable the IP rule if needed by toggling it off and saving.

    • Or, add more roles to the IP bypass list to allow exceptions.

  8. Need Help?

    • Click the Help button in the app for support from the Synkwise team.
