How to add a secondary witness to Narcotic Count?

Enable this setting under Administration/Settings/EMAR and turn on Secondary Witness as a mandatory sign-off

FAQ: I need my staff to sign off on the narcotic count at the end of their shift and have a secondary witness be notified to sign as well.

  1. Enable the Secondary Witness Setting

    • Go to the administration settings in your system.
    • Navigate to the eMAR tab.
    • Locate the "Secondary Witness" option and enable it.
    • Click "Save" to apply the changes.
  2. Access the Narcotic Count in eMAR

    • Open the eMAR section.
    • Navigate to "Narcotic Count."
    • This feature is mainly for staff members who perform narcotic counts at shift changes.
  3. Add a Narcotic Count Entry

    • Select the narcotic medication (e.g., Oxycodone).
    • Click the "Add Count" button.
    • Enter the current medication count (e.g., 35) based on the shift change.
  4. Enable and Assign a Secondary Witness

    • Select "Change of Shift" or "Correct Count" if needed.
    • Ensure the secondary witness option is enabled.
    • Choose the staff member who will serve as the secondary witness.
    • Click "Save."
  5. Notify the Secondary Witness via Email

    • The selected staff member will receive an email notification.
    • The email contains a link directing them to the narcotic count for verification.
  6. Sign as the Secondary Witness

    • Open the email and click the provided link.
    • If using a shared device, sign out of any existing accounts and log in as the correct caregiver.
    • Click "Sign" in the blue box.
    • Enter your name and initials, then save.
  7. Review and Print the Secondary Witness Record

    • Once signed, the record is updated in the system.
    • The provider can print a record of secondary witnesses, including signatures.
    • Store the printed sheet in a secure location.
  8. Contact Support for Assistance
